Arts & Sciences, CPRC to host panel on graduate school options

Nov 18, 2013 |

St. Bonaventure University's School of Arts & Sciences is offering a panel presentation from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Walsh Center Auditorium on graduate school opportunities for students interested in advanced degrees in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

Panelists include St. Bonaventure faculty members Dr. Maddalena Marinari (History), Dr. Ben Gross (Sociology), Dr. Xiaoning Zhang (Biology), and Dr. Daniel Ellis (English/Plassmann Writing Center). They will answer any questions students have about graduate school and what it could mean in their respective fields.

Dr. Wolfgang Natter, dean of Arts & Sciences, encourages seniors and juniors to attend, but all area students are welcome.

“Attending graduate school is an attractive option for many Arts and Science students as they near conclusion of their bachelor’s studies," Natter said. "Our well-qualified panelists will address typical questions prospective graduate students are likely to have: What is life like as a graduate student; should one pursue a master's or a doctoral program; what does the application process involve; and how does one decide where to go? "

The event is co-sponsored by the Career and Professional Readiness Center.
