Six student actors take the stage in Garret Theater on the St. Bonaventure University campus tonight (Oct. 20) for a staging of the short verse play "American Characters."

The performance, the first live presentation by SBU Theater in two years, runs nightly, tonight through Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. Garret Theater is located in the east wing of Devereux Hall on the SBU campus.

The show is adapted from poems by a diverse collection of American poets, including Edgar Alan Poe, Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Emily Dickenson and others. The poems’ characters are brought to life by SBU Junior Bianca Billoni and freshmen Jesus Martinez, Meghan Baehl, Kimberlie Mitchell, Sydney Layton and Autumn Reed. Senior Catie Duszynski is the costumer and student technician.

The show runs 35 minutes and is suitable for all audiences. Masks are required in the audience.

Free student "rush" tickets for unsold theater seats are available beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Garret Theater Box Office. Rush tickets are limited to one ticket per student. Tickets must be redeemed in person with a valid student ID.
