Luke co-authors book and several papers on counseling

Dr. Chad Luke, associate professor of counselor education, is the co-author of a recently published book and several papers.

The book, "Career-Focused Counseling: Integrating Culture, Development, and Neuroscience," co-authored with Dr. Melinda M. Gibbons of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, integrates neuroscience into the practice of counseling for work-related concerns. (Link to book)

Luke also co-authored the following papers:

  • Principles for humanistic responsiveness to children and adolescents coping with the pandemic," in the Journal of Humanistic Counseling, which outlines how pandemic stress effects children and how adults can support them (link to paper);
  • A training model for the development of neuroscience-informed counseling competencies," in the Journal of Mental Health Counseling, which outlines the needs of the counseling field to develop standards of practice around neuroscience integration (link to paper);
  • "Neuroscience-informed technology: Implications for professional counselors and counselor education," in the Journal of Technology in Counselor Education and Supervision, a study of counselors' use of technology in supporting counseling practices (Link to article).
