TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS/PROJECTS
My latest book, Roman Sports, A-Z.  Athletes, Venues, Events, and Teams (McFarland & Co.) will be published shortly. I’m also working on a book for ABC-CLIO, on common misconceptions about the ancient Greeks.
PERSONAL INTERESTS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
In addition to teaching classes and writing books, I’m also a second baseman/third baseman on an over-50 baseball team in Jamestown, N.Y. We play our games in beautiful Diethrick Park.

I served as an assistant women’s softball coach at SBU for 10 years, finally "retiring" after the 2011 season, and I’ve also worked as a coach and instructor at Bona Baseball Coach Larry Sudbrook’s two-week summer baseball camps. And I taught a short course on baseball analytics at Chautauqua Institution in the summer of 2019.
