Hundreds of St. Bonaventure University alumni and friends will begin flooding campus Friday, June, 1, as they look to reconnect with classmates during the university’s annual Alumni Reunion Weekend.
Special recognition during the June 1-3 event is given to graduating classes going back in five-year increments, from the Class of 2013 to the 50-year Class of 1968, although alumni from all classes are invited to attend.
“St. Bonaventure is known for its sense of community, and that really shines during Alumni Weekend,” said Joe Flanagan, ’74, director of Alumni Services. “It’s a wonderful legacy to see alumni gather with old friends and make newfound connections across so many generations.”
In addition to formal class dinners and informal gatherings, alumni will hear a university update Saturday morning in Friedsam Memorial Library from St. Bonaventure’s 21st president, Dr. Dennis DePerro. This is open to the general public (no tickets are required for this event).
Saturday’s events also include golf at the university course; tours of campus and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts; a number of campus open houses; and a talk by national alumni chaplain Fr. Dan Riley, O.F.M., ’64, on “Thomas Merton: His Story and the Bona Story.”
The Alumni Memorial Mass will begin at 5 p.m. in the University Chapel. The day will conclude with a social and dancing in the Reilly Center Arena. Tickets must be purchased in advance for all events.
The weekend concludes Sunday, June 3, with a breakfast in Hickey Dining Hall and a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in the University Chapel.
