Frequently Asked Questions @ SBU: Pine Grove

Who are the professors at SBU: Pine Grove?

Our instructors are the same professors who teach classes at St. Bonaventure University. This is different from AP classes at your home school, which are taught by high school teachers. Professors teach as if they were teaching college freshmen, and expect the same of you as they do their university students. The professors are kind, patient and supportive. Each has a syllabus of coursework and expectations that are made available to students at the start of the semester.

How is this different than high school?

You may or may not have a more demanding workload than you do at your high school; the expectation is that you will participate in class, work hard and perform well on exams. You will have access to, and be encouraged to use, forms of technology that are not available to you in high school. Also, you will be taught a college-level curriculum.

Will the credits transfer to a different college?

For the most part, yes. The key here is that you are taking real college classes for credit. It is a good idea to double check how the colleges you are interested in (if you have an idea) will transfer the credits by contacting the college registrar’s office. These are freshman-level college classes, so credits should transfer to most universities.

What do I do if I'm interested in the program?

Consult your high school principal or guidance counselor for information regarding the St. Bonaventure Dual-Enrollment Program and if it is the right fit for you. Visit our contact page for more information.

Will I get along with the other students?

All students in the program are here because of their desire to learn, so you and your peers will find you have a lot in common.
