Three separate sessions full of new St. Bonaventure University students will be on campus for orientation in July. The students will be on campus for sessions from July 11-12, 18-19, and 21-22.
Orientation is an interactive and informative, two-day program that helps students prepare for everything Bona’s has to offer — both in and out of the classroom. Students make friends, learn about campus, and discuss their academic careers with faculty, among other activities. The program is facilitated in large part by a team of 14 student leaders who represent a diverse array of majors and involvement at St. Bonaventure.
“We are excited for the new freshmen at orientation because there is nothing better for an orientation leader than to see a new student fall in love with St. Bonaventure the same way we have,” said Samantha Harrienger, ’17, orientation co-coordinator.
Parents and families of new students face a significant transition themselves as they prepare for their son or daughter to begin college. During the parent and family orientation, which runs concurrently with the student program, families of new students see first-hand the facilities provided for students, meet other families, and talk to faculty about academic offerings.
“St. Bonaventure’s orientation program helps students strengthen their connection with the university and promotes a successful transition to college at St. Bonaventure,” said Chris Brown, director of
First-Year Experience and Orientation. “Our hope is that students are even more excited to call themselves Bonnies when they leave campus.”
Students will return to campus for the fall semester on Aug. 25.
