St. Bonaventure students are invited to get outside and enjoy the beauty of our natural campus in winter.
The Franciscan Center for Social Concern (FCSC) and the SBU Land Use Subcommittee have created a photo contest to showcase the school’s snowy woodlands. The contest began Friday, Feb. 20, and runs through Sunday, March 1.
The “Woods in Winter” contest asks students to submit their best three photos of wooded areas on campus via Twitter with the hashtag #bonabeauty. A caption and location for each photo is required as well. The first-place prize is a Samsung Galaxy Tablet; second place receives a fair trade prize basket.
The contest is a way to show the campus community that natural areas of campus can be enjoyed in all four seasons in addition to celebrating both the 100th birthday of Thomas Merton and St. Francis being named the patron saint of ecology.
After the photo submission period ends March 1, the FCSC and Land Use Subcommittee will select their top ten photos. These photos will then be open to a public voting from March 16 to March 23 at www.sbu.edu/bonabeauty to determine the winner. Framed prints of each photo will also be posted in the connecting bridge of De La Roche Hall and the Walsh Science Center.
The first- and second-place winners will be announced after voting ends on March 23.
