Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education, was established on March 8, 1911 at the University of Illinois to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. The Society was incorporated on June 8, 1911. The Xi Nu Chapter was installed at St. Bonaventure by Dr. Clementine Skinner, President of Kappa Delta Pi, on November 14, 1977.
The Xi Nu Chapter participates in a variety of local activities that connect education with the community including Bonagany (an annual street festival connecting SBU and Allegany), campus workshops and planned activities with local schools. Our chapter also sponsors Literacy Alive! workshops through our participation in the national KDP drive to strengthen literacy skills at all levels.
Kappa Delta Pi is open to elementary and physical education majors. In order to qualify for induction, students must have completed 60 credit hours and maintained a GPA of 3.25 or higher at St. Bonaventure.
