Richter Center a perfect fit at SBU

The $6.2 million state-of-the-art Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center opened in the fall of 2004 to bring a new level of fitness and recreation to St. Bonaventure University. Thousands of students visit the center each month, creating an enhanced culture of student activity that is centered on wellness.


More than 80 percent of St. Bonaventure students take part in intramurals, club sports or fitness programs annually.


The Richter Center features three basketball courts (including a multi-purpose court that can be used for floor hockey, soccer and other activities), an indoor running/walking track, an aerobics room, courts for racquetball, squash and wallyball, a weight room, 5,000 square feet of cardiovascular and weight equipment, locker rooms, a reception area, and a climbing wall.


Wellness Activities

Since the Richter Center opened in 2004, the number of monthly visits has never been fewer than 6,000. Many students and staff members take part in structured programs aimed at helping them get and keep fit.


Current programs include:

 

  • 150-Mile Cardio ChallengeRichter photo 4
    Can you exercise 150 miles before April 3?  If you can, you will be entered into a drawing at the end of the challenge that includes a flat-screen TV, Kindle Fire or iPod docking station.  Run, bike, walk, skip, row...it all counts towards the 150 miles.  Click here for a registration form.
