Staff at St. Bonaventure's Wellness Center support recycling!

The Wellness Center has done a number of things during RecycleMania to promote recycling on campus. Here is how the staff describe their initiatives:

"We have many ways we work toward reducing the amount of trash we produce. We collect ink cartridges and return them to Staples. We sort the fluorescent light bulbs, which housekeeping tends to for us. We collect the tabs from aluminum cans and donate them for St. Jude’s Hospital. We turn scrap paper into scratch notes. We separate out the hazardous waste. We collect deposit cans and donate them to Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Heart Work Camp. We also separate recyclables into the zero sort bins provided to us by SBU. And, we took the RecycleMania challenge one step further by setting up containers for compost that will be taken to a home vermicomposting system. We also set up a container to collect our used batteries to take to the on campus receptacles. All this has also sparked the idea to collect eyeglasses for the Lions club, so we will be doing that as well. You can even catch several of our staff upcycling calories into muscle at the Richter Center during lunch break!"
