The Campus Activities Board and the Center for Activities, Recreation and Leadership invite students, parents, family members and friends to SBU's Family Weekend 2012.
St. Bonaventure's Family Weekend is an annual event that reunites
students and their families so that all may share the rich and varied
experiences that make up college life at SBU.
There will be
athletics competitions, live entertainment and an assortment of
family-friendly games, contests and events. A highlight of the weekend
is the annual Bonagany Festival, a street fair on Main Street in
Allegany featuring music, food, raffles, games, information booths for
student groups, and other activities.
Here's a rundown of the weekend's events:
FRIDAY, SEPT. 21
- 5 p.m. - Bonnies Soccer: The women's team plays Niagara on the McGraw-Jennings pitch.
- 5:30 p.m. - Mark Hellinger Award: The Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication to host this annual award honoring May 2012 alumna Shannon Shepherd for academic excellence. A paid reservation is required for this formal event. For more information go to www.sbu.edu/jmc and click on Special Events.
- 8 p.m. — The Right Price Game Show: Contestants will be called from the audience for a chance to win many prizes in this Bobby K Entertainment event modeled after the popular TV program; Dresser Auditorium, Murphy Building.
- 8 p.m. - Midnight — Night in the Skeller: Enjoy darts, billiards, Ping Pong and mingle as DJ Keith plays your favorite songs in the university Rathskeller.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 22
- 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. — Family Weekend Golf: Enjoy a free round at the SBU Golf Course. Carts are available for $13 (while they last). Students may register at the Richter Center starting Sept. 3.
 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. — Coffee with SBU President: Meet University President Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F., in the Athletics Hall of Fame, Reilly Center; pastries & beverages available.- 10:30-11:30 a.m. — The College Adjustment: Student Wellness Center Director Dr. Roger Keener talks about the first month and what to expect next; Trustees Room, Doyle Hall.
- 10:30-11:30 a.m. — Alumni Reception: For St. Bonaventure University alumni and their families; Athletics Hall of Fame, Reilly Center.
- 10:30 a.m. — ROTC Fall Awards Ceremony: Reception precedes 11 a.m. ceremony in the Quick Center's Rigas Family Theater.
- 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. — Mt. Irenaeus Open House: Franciscan Mountain Retreat to host reflection & prayer service at 3 p.m. Find directions at www.mounti.com.
- 11 a.m. — SBU Women's Rugby: The women host SUNY Brockport on the McGraw-Jennings pitch.
- 11:30 a.m. — Family Fun 2.5-Mile Run/Walk: All family members invited to this event sponsored by the Parents Council. Registration begins at 11 a.m. near the Allegheny River Valley TRail by the tennis courts.
- 1 p.m. — Men's Rugby: The men host SUNY Brockport on the McGraw-Jennings pitch.
- 8 p.m. - Hypnosis Show: Hypnotist Gabriel Holmes provides family entertainment in the Murphy Building's Dresser Auditorium.
- 8 p.m. - Midnight- Night in the Skeller: Enjoy darts, billiards, Ping Pong and mingle as DJ Keith plays your favorite songs in the university Rathskeller.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 23
- 10:30 a.m. - Family Weekend Mass: All are welcome; Reilly Center Arena.
- 1 p.m. - Bonnies Soccer: The men's team plays Niagara on the McGraw-Jennings pitch.
