Appeals

The Appeals Board meets at 5:30p on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, while school is in session, in Room 128 of Robinson Hall (1/24, 2/14, 3/14, 4/11, 4/25, and the FIRST Thursday, 5/2).

 

Sign up to present your appeal during normal Business hours at the Parking Administration Office in Robinson Hall.

 

Note:  

  • Tickets may only be appealed within 30 days from the date of issuance  
  • If you fail to appear at the time of your scheduled hearing, the ticket is presumed valid
  • Cancellation of a scheduled hearing must occur 24 hours prior to the hearing
  • All documentation to support your case is your responsibility and must be submitted at the time of appeal
  • Appeals Board decisions are FINAL  

 

Insufficient grounds for appeal:

  • Not registered yet/did not have time to register or pick up decal
  • Registered online, but did not pick up or display decal on vehicle
  • Just dropping something off
  • Could not find a spot nearby
  • Preferred parking lot was full or too far away
  • Others who parked the same way did not receive tickets
  • I was using my flashing hazard lights (or four-way lights)
  • Vehicle was not parked there long
  • Inclement weather
  • The owner of the vehicle was not driving (registered owner of the vehicle is responsible for all tickets incurred)
  • I can't afford the ticket
  • I didn't know/wasn't informed
  • Someone told me I could park there
  • I parked there before and did not receive a ticket
  • I disagree with Parking Rules and Regulations
  • I was late/in a hurry

  • A final decision will be made at the conclusion of the hearing by The Appeals Board
  • False or misleading statements or failure to disclose pertinent information will result in denial of appeal
  • False or misleading statements or failure to disclose pertinent information may result in the loss of parking privileges and/or other appropriate administrative action
  • If your appeal is denied, the fine MUST be paid
  • Fines are payable either by check or cash at the Business Office in Hopkins Hall OR online (https://my.sbu.edu/default.aspx?id=2612 ) with a credit/debit card
  • Unpaid tickets will result in a hold being placed on your student records and/or other actions deemed necessary
