 The American Advertising Federation is a national organization designed to give students the opportunity to create and manage a working advertising agency. St. Bonaventure's chapter, The Stalwart Group, consists of 30 students, and is open to all majors. Students can take the class for marketing credit in the School of Business or as an Advertising class in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Students must submit a resume and short creative sample in order to be considered for the group.
Each year, the group competes in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). We create a plans book complete with market research and advertising initiatives. There will also be a 20-minute presentation that will be judged by AAF officials, advertising executives, and corporate executives at the regional competition every spring in New York City. The company we create a presentation for changes each year based on the sponsor for the NSAC.
Although St. Bonaventure is a smaller school compared to competitors such as Syracuse, Georgetown, and George Washington, St. Bonaventure and the Stalwart Group continue to remain competitive. St. Bonaventure has consistently packed the auditorium during the competition and has gained a reputation in the northeast district as an advertising agency always on the cutting edge. Last year, St. Bonaventure took home third place.
