The Career of Today and the Future

Do you find day-to-day routine work boring?

Do you enjoy being challenged?

Do you prefer hands-on, detail-oriented tasks?

Are you comfortable working with people?

If you answered "yes" to these questions, you may find the Business Information Systems (BIS) major is the choice for you.

The Business Information Systems (BIS) program at St. Bonaventure University enables our graduates to leverage information technology to assist organizations in successfully competing in the global information economy.

Utilizing new and emerging systems in wireless technologies, e-commerce, and the Internet, BIS graduates support organizations by designing, developing, and implementing business information systems.   BIS professionals are in high demand and garner competitive wages.  The U.S. Department of Labor estimates, for instance, that System Analysts are the fifth most demanded individuals in terms of job openings.  System Analysts also earn an median income of nearly $50,000 annually.

At St. Bonaventure, students gain practical knowledge in system development methodologies, telecommunications, programming applications, system theory, database design, hardware terminology, and software terminology.  Students are strongly encouraged to seek a variety of internships during their college years.  Internships provide students with further technical experience and may open doors upon graduation.
