Why Accounting at SBU

St. Bonaventure University helps you establish the right foundation

Eugene McQuadeEugene McQuade, a 1971 St. Bonaventure University graduate, believes so strongly in a Bonaventure business education that he and his wife, Peggy, have committed $2 million to establish the McQuade Center for Accounting Excellence at St. Bonaventure.

McQuade, an accounting major as a student, said his St. Bonaventure education set the foundation for his remarkable business career. The Citibank CEO is a veteran banker who has held executive positions at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America Corporation and FleetBoston.

"My family and I are proud to partner with St. Bonaventure’s premier business school,” said McQuade. “The high caliber of the curriculum, the integration of service learning and the attention to ethical decision making creates a dynamic business learning environment. The quality instruction I received and the Franciscan values I learned at the university have served me well, both personally and professionally.”

His family's gift, part of a $15 million campaign to build and support a new School of Business building on campus, will provide scholarship aid to promising incoming accounting majors; funding to recruit, retain and support the work of highly qualified, dedicated faculty; and support for student programming, advisement and professional development.

It will help ensure that St. Bonaventure's School of Business retains its status as one of the premier business schools in the world, one of only 5 percent of business schools worldwide accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business.
