Mission
To assist St. Bonaventure University students in better understanding information technology and its application in the business world; to foster relationships with alumni and potential employers; and, enable members to utilize their skills and knowledge in service opportunities.

Meeting Schedule
The club meets roughly once a month for about one hour to discuss upcoming activities. Once the school year begins, specific times and meeting places can be acquired from the BIS Club president.

BIS Club Trips and Activities
Project CREATE, Harlem, New York City A nationally recognized annual service trip to Harlem allows students to put their computer knowledge and skills to the test.
Refurbished computers from SBU's Technology Services department are packaged and shipped to one of the project's seven facilities in the Harlem area. Students travel to the facility and set up the computers as a network for printer sharing, install software, and troubleshoot problems along the way.

 It is an educational and fun activity that teaches students how to apply their skills and knowledge in helping others. Students also have time to take in the many sites of New York City. Facilities previously upgraded include a young men's homeless shelter and a medically supervised outpatient clinic. |
Project CREATE is a not-for-profit organization founded in the 1970s by a St. Bonaventure alumnus, Fr. Benedict Taylor. It includes seven facilities in the Harlem area, including a men's homeless shelter, medically supervised outpatient clinic, housing for single mothers, program for senior citizens, food pantry, and transitional housing.

Bank of New York, NYCClub members have toured the trading floors of the Bank of New York/Mellon courtesy of St. Bonaventure alumnus and Vice President of the Bank of New York Peter Mantilia, '80. Members were educated on the great amount hardware and software needed to run systems that are utilized to trade several trillions of dollars each day on their floors. |

Washington, D.C. Club members toured the Pentagon, Federal Reserve Bank, and Capitol Building. They also visited other sites around the city. |

Boston On March 23rd, 2012 members of the BIS club traveled to Boston for the annual education trip. Members met with Andrew Hickey, Director of Information Technology at Clough Capital Partners. Jim Canty, class of '84, a partner at the firm, arranged the briefing. Members also met with Michael Palmer, class of '84, Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Two staff members, Kelsi Maher and Matt Sands also met with members.

Warming HouseClub members donate a few hours of time to the Warming House, a local soup kitchen run solely by St. Bonaventure University students. Activities include meal preparation and clean-up, serving the meals, and mingling with the guests. |

Fundraising
Club members collect gift certificates from local businesses for a Chinese-style raffle. Tickets are sold to faculty, students, and attendees at men's basketball games. The profits help support the club's activities.
