Psychology Scholars Program

Each year, two entering freshman are designated as Psychology Scholars. Scholars receive a special scholarship of $1,000 each year, renewable for four years. Each Psychology Scholar is assigned to a faculty mentor, one of the members of the Psychology faculty.

The Scholar is expected to dedicate 4-6 hours per week on preprofessional activities and training under the direction of the faculty mentor. Students will work under several mentors during the course of their undergraduate education, to get exposed to different areas of psychology.

Besides the honor attached to being awarded a scholarship, the mentorship experience gives Scholars a chance to know faculty in a more direct and personal fashion, and provides the opportunity for Scholars to build skills and credentials that are invaluable as the student moves on to graduate training and a career in psychology.
