Concentrations for Sociology Majors

Two concentrations are available to sociology majors.

Social Work Concentration

A sociology major major wishing to concentrate in social work must, as part of fulfilling the degree requirements, complete the following courses:

• SOC 103. Introduction to Social Work
• SOC 104. Introduction to Gerontology
• SOC 301-302. Current Social Problems: Field Work Study
• SOC 304. Community Organization
• SOC 320. Social Psychology of Addictions

Criminology Concentration

A sociology major wishing to concentate in criminology must, as part of fulfilling the degree requirements, complete the following courses:

• SOC 307. Criminology and Penology
• SOC 308. Juvenile Delinquency
• One of the following: Special topics in either Forensic Psychology or Psychology and Law.
