Students may also seek an internship individually that is not affiliated with either the Washington, D.C., or Albany programs. This is done by working for some branch of the government that has political aspects within it, and is subject to approval from the Department.
Past experiences include the Olean Family Court, working for the office of New York State Sen. Cathy Young, and working at the Rome Research Site, which is a research facility for the Defense Department.
