The Value of Art History

Fr. Xavier Seubert, O.F.M."To study the history and dynamics of art is to immerse ourselves in revelations of human life and perception, which exist nowhere else. Art is one of the necessities of human being, and no education is complete without an exposure to art history."

This quote is from comments made by Fr. Xavier Seubert, O.F.M., former Art History director at SBU, in Buffalo in May of 2008 at a reception celebrating establishment of a $2 million arts education endowment by the Leslie C. Quick III family, and in recognition of a $600,000 grant from the Oishei Foundation of Buffalo in support of the Art History program.
