As a young man I enjoyed playing sports and I enjoyed learning the natural sciences. I went on to become a podiatrist, a profession I have been at for nearly 25 years now. I derive a deep satisfaction in helping save a person's foot from the complications of diabetes and other painful conditions that can afflict them.
Having two children has broadened that horizon for newer passions. I have greatly enjoyed coaching my kids in soccer, basketball, baseball and I am currently the varsity boys tennis coach at my son's high school.
I have been the Cub Scout leader in Leesburg, Fla., the past two years and will move on with younger my son to lead his Boy Scout Troop as Scoutmaster this summer. Is it time consuming? Yes. Can it be frustrating? At times. But we only have our children for what seems a short time in our lives and if we raise them properly, they leave us to make their own way in the world.
My wife and I want to make sure our kids get every opportunity to experience life and learn to make good decisions in their lives. It starts by getting involved with them when they are young, and you know what, we find it helps keep us feeling young also.
