We’re really not far away. There are so many of us that come to St. Bonaventure from this part of New York, so transportation is easy to arrange if you’re not bringing your own vehicle. With the flexibility for students to pick a major, double-major, or minor/double minor there are options for everyone. Additionally, there are so many of our alumni living and working right in your backyard that job placement when you finish at St. Bonaventure is something we take a lot of pride in. You will learn to network at SBU and make lasting connections using our Alumni database that will help place you in careers the moment you leave here.
Joseph Centra, Esq., BBA, Philosophy/Pre-Law – Class of 2008: "I came to St. Bonaventure knowing that I wanted to attend law school after graduating. The Pre-Law/Philosophy program really drew me to St. Bonaventure, but once I got there it was more than the academic program that had me hooked. St. Bonaventure was a perfect distance from my home in Syracuse, not too close yet not too far away. For a small community there were always many activities to keep you busy. I immediately made friends my freshman year that I still consider my close friends to this day. I graduated from St. Bonaventure and attended law school and I am now working as an Assistant District Attorney in Onondaga County in New York. Since graduating from St. Bonaventure the thing that amazes me the most is the alumni connection. Old or young, if you meet a St. Bonaventure alumnus, it’s like running into an old friend. The people I met and the experiences I had at St. Bonaventure were priceless. Attending St. Bonaventure really helped in getting me to where I am today."
First things first: The drive is so easy. I know the 5 hours can look like forever but there are several current Bonnies from your neck of the woods that will tell you that the drive gets a lot shorter once you immerse yourself in our culture and family atmosphere. Second and most important, this is a family atmosphere so St. Bonaventure becomes an extension of your own. Our Friars love to host students and their friends for home-cooked meals and join them in the Reilly Center for game nights. Come down and see for yourself.
