SCHOOL COUNSELING CERTIFICATE

The Advanced Certificate in School Counseling is for individuals possessing a master’s degree and credential in school counseling (typically a 48 hour degree) and needing additional coursework to meet the credit hour criteria for permanent certification in New York.

The specific requirements of the advanced certification program are established for each student in consultation with the director of the counseling graduate programs. Generally, advanced certificate students take 12 credit hours - three courses and a 300 hour internship.  Because a certificate is awarded upon completion of the requirements, advanced certificate students are eligible to apply federal financial aid (e.g. Graduate Stafford Loan).

Students in this advanced certificate program are eligible for federal and St. Bonaventure graduate aid.

For more information, contact Dr. Alan Silliker at silliker@sbu.edu or 716-375-2368.
