St. Bonaventure University has expanded its online graduate school offerings by adding its MSED programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling.
Both programs are fully aligned with St. Bonaventure’s CACREP-accredited on-ground programs, now offered only at the main campus. Rehabilitation Counseling also will continue to be offered on the main campus, but won’t be available online.
Students in the online programs will take part in field practice, internships and a practicum.
Clinical Mental Health Counseling is 60 credits while the School Counseling program is 48 credits. Both programs feature a Practicum that requires 100 hours, 40 of which involve direct contact with clients.
Following the Practicum, students will complete two internships, each requiring 300 clock hours. Graduate students are also required to attend two four-day residencies at St. Bonaventure University.
“We are excited to open the doors of SBU’s School of Education to online learners. The Counseling faculty will bring their expertise to the online classroom and make the courses personal, interactive and challenging,” said Nancy Casey, interim dean of the School of Education and dean of Graduate Studies.
Designed to help long-distance and professional learners enter a new career path or expand upon their career choices, the Counseling programs allow individuals to complete their degree while maintaining their personal and professional lives.
“We are excited to embark on this exciting new journey where we continue our mission for dynamic and cutting-edge academic success for our graduate students,” said Chris Siuta, assistant professor in the School of Education.
SBU worked in tandem with its online education partner, Keypath Education, to bring the MSED Counseling programs to nontraditional learners. Offered through the School of Education, the MSED Counseling programs are known for excellence with a 95% completion rate, a 95% school certification rate and a 98% mental health licensure rate.
St. Bonaventure also offers online graduate programs in Business Administration (MBA), Integrated Marketing Communications, and Strategic Leadership.
