SBU students are invited to take a study break and experience a different kind of reading this Reading Day!
Head to the Rathskeller this Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. to hear Dr. Daniel Ellis’ Advanced Fiction Writing class read their best work. Refreshments will be served.
Advanced Fiction Writing is one of two fiction writing courses taught by Ellis. Students in the course focus on much more than just producing short stories. The workshop-style class structure focuses on developing the ability to give and receive meaningful, constructive feedback so that each draft of a given piece is stronger than the last. Students also receive their first glimpse at the professional side of fiction writing as they are encouraged to search for and submit to literary magazines.
The students in the course have selected their best pieces to share, so, if you can appreciate a good story, end Reading Day on a positive note and let some talented Bona writers show you what they can do.
