Thomas Merton, a one-time faculty member at St. Bonaventure, was one of the most influential spiritual writers of this century. This course takes students on a journey through the life and writings of Thomas Merton. The course includes an analysis of Merton’s theological reflections on contemplative religious experience and his prophetic approach to social problems that arose out of his contemplative awareness.
