Thank You Letter

This is used following an interview to express your appreciation and to strengthen your position as a highly qualified candidate. Thank-you letters remind employers of your presence in the applicant pool.Your use of this tool can set you apart from the other candidates. In addition to expressing your appreciation and reaffirming your interest in the position, the thank-you letter provides an opportunity to reintroduce your strengths and/or mention some aspect of your background or experience that was not covered in the interview. Handwritten or typed letters should be sent within 48 hours of every interview.

This is used to inform the employer that you are declining an employment offer. Acceptance Letter

This is used to convey your decision to accept a job offer and to confirm the terms of your employment. Beyond the obvious statement of thanks for having been offered a postion,  the acceptance letter formalizes your agreement to the terms of the job as described in the offer letter. After your statement of thanks, briefly restate your duties, salary, and start date as you understand them. Confirming your acceptance in writing is a good way to ensure that there are no misunderstandings when you actually begin your employment.
