USIL’s international center is located in Cusco. This magical city also has an exciting nightlife with cafes and restaurants to suit everyone’s tastes. Ten minutes away from the city, many ancient Incan ruins, fortresses and other archaeological ruins can be seen. Cusco is also the gateway city to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu, which is an amazing stone settlement in the Peruvian Andes and the most important and beautiful legacy of the ancient Peruvians. During their time in Cusco, students will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Machu Picchu.
Academic Program Highlights
Students take courses in USIL’s recently opened international center, which is housed in a 16th century building with ancient Incan stones lining the classroom walls. Students will take several courses, some of which are taught in English and others in Spanish. The course offerings include Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Spanish.
Each course is three credits and students are encouraged to enroll in 12 to 15 credits each semester. In order to be eligible to apply, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and obtain two academic letters of recommendation.
Student Life
Students live in shared, furnished apartments at La Casa Don Ignacio, a student residence conveniently located near the central square, Plaza de Armas, which is close to many stores and restaurants (www.casadedonignacio.com). The student residence offers all the amenities a student would need such as 24-hour front desk, medical assistance, airport pick-up upon arrival and departure, wireless internet, computer room, dining room, TV, laundry service and safe deposit box. Students living at Casa Don Ignacio will also enjoy daily breakfast served in the dining room. Decorated in Incan-style furniture and bright colors, the Casa Don Ignacio provides students with a pleasant place to stay during their time in Cusco.
