This course builds on the foundations developed in SFS 518 “The Franciscan Hagiographical Tradition” course. The content of this course focuses on the non-official hagiographical texts that emerged from the milieu of the companions and disciples of Francis in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries (from the Anonymous of Perugia to the Fioretti). The course includes a study of Franciscan chronicles and compilations of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
