This course is the second of a three-course sequence in the diagnosis and teaching of middle and adolescent learners with literacy difficulties. This course is designed to provide prospective adolescence literacy teachers with many strategies for teaching learners as individuals and in small groups. The course will include strategies on improving comprehension, writing and study strategies. The focus of the course will be in using the specific literacy strengths of students to develop their weaknesses. The course also includes a 20-hour in-school practicum placement where students work with a certified literacy teacher.
