Students are encouraged to collect and donate lightly used items to contribute to the annual Move Out Program.
Starting Thursday, May 7, boxes will be available in all residence halls for smaller items.
Students in townhouses and off-campus houses are also welcome to donate by bringing items directly to the San Damiano Room in Francis Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 13, 14 and 15.
A truck to pick up larger items will be parked in townhouse 11-13 parking lots from Friday, May 15, until senior sign-out at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17.
“It is our mission to keep useable items out of landfills, especially when these items can be used by other individuals,” said Sr. Suzanne Kush, C.S.S.F., director of Franciscan Center for Social Concern.
Items accepted for collection include: gently used clothing, unopened toiletries, non-perishable foods, bedding, household items, furniture and cleaning supplies.
The Move Out Sale will open on Monday, May 18, for SBU employees and students from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the San Damiano Room.
The sale will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, to Thursday, May 21.
Money collected from the sale will go toward student service scholarships.
If anyone has larger items to contribute to the sale, pick-up arrangements can be made through Sr. Suzanne at SKUSH@sbu.edu or (716)-375-2358.
