Bona Buddies

Bona Buddies is a youth mentoring program where one-to-one relationships are established between St. Bonaventure University students and local children, ages 5 to 15.

All of these children need the friendship, special attention, and interest of an older person. These relationships often fill the gap in the life of a youngster who needs positive role models and experiences.

Students: Be a mentor and make a difference

Sign up to be a mentor. All you need to give is a few hours each month and you can make a difference in the life of a child.

It’s a great way to get to know others in the community, to help a child, and have fun. You may even be eligible to get credit for participating.

What can you do with your Bona Buddy? Hang out at the mall, walk the recreation trail, go to a movie, attend a Bonnies basketball game or another campus event ... There are numerous ways to provide companionship for your buddy.

Enroll a child in the program

To enroll a child in the Bona Buddies program, an application and health form are required. Contact the director for more information.

What's it take to be
a Bona Buddy?

You don't need to be a hero, just someone who cares. If you have a serious commitment to serve and a willingness to be a friend to someone who needs one, you're the perfect Bona Buddy candidate.

You'll attend training sessions, keep a log of your activities, and receive help and encouragement from the Bona Buddies team.
