The Office of Marketing and Communications is located on the second floor of Francis Hall on the East End of campus. During the academic year, our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Some 900 St. Bonaventure University alumni and friends will return home to their alma mater Friday, June 2, through Sunday, June 4, for the university’s annual Alumni Reunion Weekend.
Special recognition is given to graduating classes going back in five-year increments, from the Class of 2012 to the 50-year Class of 1967, although alumni from all classes are invited to attend.
In addition to formal class dinners and informal gatherings, alumni are invited to meet the university’s new president, Dr. Dennis DePerro, and his wife, Sherry, during a reception Saturday morning. DePerro officially takes office as St. Bonaventure’s 21st president on Thursday, June 1.
“Reunion Weekend is perfect timing to welcome our new president, Dennis DePerro, and his wife, Sherry, to the St Bonaventure family,” said Joe Flanagan, ’74, director of Alumni Services.
Saturday’s events also include golf at the SBU course; a campus tour and a number of campus open houses; the Athletics Hall of Fame induction at the Quick Center for the Arts at 1:30 p.m.; and a talk by national alumni chaplain Fr. Dan Riley, O.F.M., ’64, on “Thomas Merton: His Story and the Bona Story.”
During the open houses, alumni will have the opportunity to tour the new McGinley-Carney Center for Franciscan Ministry; meet the new dean of the School of Education, Dr. Lisa Buenaventura; and visit the newly renovated St. Joseph’s Oratory, Grotto and Office of Veterans Services.
The Alumni Memorial Mass will begin at 5 p.m. in the University Chapel, followed by a social and dancing in the Reilly Center Arena. Saturday evening has an exciting new format this year. The traditional sit-down dinner is being replaced with a three-hour social complete with food and carving stations and a live band. Tickets must be purchased in advance for all events.
The weekend concludes Sunday morning with a breakfast in Hickey Dining Hall and a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in the University Chapel.
