St. Bonaventure University Trustee Bill Purcell will lead a discussion about obesity in America at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in the CUTCO Theater at Jamestown Community College’s Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean.
Purcell is an expert in leading collaborative efforts. He chairs the Roundtable on Obesity Solutions, which is part of the Accelerating Progress in Obesity Prevention at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies in Washington, D.C.
The committee’s most recent report, “Accelerating Progress on Obesity Prevention: Solving the Weight of the Nation,” identifies more than 800 ways that communities can work together to accelerate obesity prevention.
Upper Allegheny Health Systems, Olean General Hospital and Bradford Regional Medical Center are sponsoring Purcell’s presentation on the critical issue of obesity in America and what communities can do about it. The hope for this discussion is to begin an ongoing dialogue about what we can do to address obesity in the region.
Registration and light fare will be available from 6-6:30 p.m. To register, call (716) 375-7518 or log on to www.ogh.org.
