Eleven St. Bonaventure students will participate in a journalism history conference in New York City on Saturday, March 8.
The students are scheduled to take part in a “Changing News Systems” panel at the joint spring meeting of the American Journalism Historians Association and the History Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Their presentation, “Mediation: An Instrument for Social Change in Print, on the Air and Online,” will examine the work of journalists whose reporting has set the agenda for cultural, political and social affairs and influenced public policy.
The students developed the presentation in the Women, Minorities and the Media class taught by Anne Lee and the Media and Democracy course taught by Richard Lee.
The group participating in the conference includes Elyse Breeze, Catherine Brown, Matt Butler, Nicole Gagen, Hannah Gordon, Emmariah Holcomb, Joel Jackson, Casandra Nguyen, Lauren Olmstead, Angelia Roggie and Deirdre Spilman.
The session will be held at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
