The Office of Marketing and Communications is located on the second floor of Francis Hall on the East End of campus. During the academic year, our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To raise awareness about homelessness and mental illness, Phi Rho will be holding its annual Hut-A-Thon beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.
The event will be held next to the sidewalk between Plassmann Hall and the Reilly Center until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12.
Phi Rho is the St. Bonaventure chapter of Chi Sigma lota, the international honor society for students, professional counselors and counselor educators.
Members of Phi Rho will set up an actual hut and maintain it throughout the event.
According to Dr. Mary Adekson, the reason for the Hut-A-Thon is to put Phi Rho members and counseling students in the same discomfort as the homeless for three days and nights. “This allows our students to have empathy for the homeless when they get to the field to practice counseling,” said Adekson.
Phi Rho secretary Tricia Dallas said members of Phi Rho will take turns collecting money. The proceeds from the Hut-A-Thon will be given to the Genesis House, a homeless shelter in Olean.
“We know how difficult it is scraping up money during college, but every little bit counts, even pennies,” said Dallas. “We are hoping to raise a good amount of money, but we can't do that without help and support from the Bonaventure students and community.”
