    Dr. Ibrahim Zabad, assistant professor of political science at St. Bonaventure, will give a talk on "The Fate of Minorities in the Arab Spring" Monday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford. The talk will take place in Fisher Hall, room 107. The talk is open to the public and sponsored by the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences; History and Political Science Program;  International Relations/Model UN Club; and History and Political Science Club at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford.

    Julianne E. Wallace presented "Creating Mindfulness in Campus Worship" at the 2016 NetVUE Regional Gathering on January 26 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Minn. The regional gathering, which was part of the annual Calvin College Worship Symposium, focused on creating lively and integrated worship experiences on university campuses.

    Bahamas Trip Success

    Faculty members Todd Palmer, Jim Mahar and Althea Baurenschmidt and 45 students participated in this year’s ENACTUS Bahamas trip. Many worthwhile activities took place during the trip. Student teams worked with seven Bahamian businesses doing accounting setup and assistance, brand development, social media and website development. Approximately 80 local business people attended three evening business seminars on branding, bookkeeping and social media. And SBU science and education majors worked with seven primary schools in the area under the direction of Dave Hilmey to create "Sciencepacks," which were lesson plans and manipulatives that focused on chemistry.

    On Jan. 21, the Management Club hosted a group of about 20 people from Dresser-Rand, giving tours of the Swan Business Center, describing some of the initiatives in the School of Business and attending a dinner meeting with the Dresser group. The School of Business would like to thank the participating students: Joshua Lewis, Julie Shevlin, Samantha Arena, Matthew Bizzaro, Leah Braun, and Bradley Ingalls for their time and effort in conducting the tours with the visitors from Dresser and for being professional in dress and demeanor!

    Brenda L. McGee, senior vice president for finance and administration, has been re-elected chair of the Upper Allegheny Health System Board of Directors. Upper Allegheny Health System is the parent company of Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital.

    Dr. Kimberly S. Young, professor and director of the Strategic Leadership program in the Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication, was awarded a book contract from Springer Academic Press to edit "Screen Addiction in Children and Adolescents: Risk Factors, Treatment, and Prevention." The book will be co-edited with Dr. Cristanio Nabuco de Abreu, a psychologist and director of the University of San Paulo's Impulse Control Clinic in Brazil. This is Young's sixth book on Internet Addiction.

    Michael D. Kasperski, lecturer of accounting, was re‑elected treasurer of the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation's Board of Directors. He is also the internship coordinator for the School of Business and NCAA faculty athletic representative at the university. Kasperski also serves as Olean Public Library treasurer, St. Mary of the Angels Church finance chairman, and Mt. Irenaeus Franciscan Mountain Retreat treasurer and coordinator of operations.

    Issues in Accounting Education announces the appointment of Dr. Carol M. Fischer, interim dean of the School of Business, as a member of the Editorial Advisory and Review Board 2016-2018. Issues in Accounting Education is one of the three primary publications of the American Accounting Association. The mission of the journal is to publish research, commentaries, and instructional resources that assist accounting faculty in teaching and that examine important issues in accounting education.
