Students, faculty, staff and alumni are asked to wear their favorite Bona apparel to show off their school sAdmissions team shows its Bona Pridepirit Jan. 25 for the fourth annual Bona Pride Day. The goal is to get everyone on campus dressed in their best brown and white gear to kickoff Homecoming Weekend.

Students are encouraged to get creative and enthusiastic with their pride as a prize patrol will be walking around campus all day awarding prizes to those who show the most school spirit.

Faculty and staff are invited to get their department together, take a picture and send it in to alumni@sbu.edu. A pizza party will be given to the three departments who have the best all-around Bona pride, decided by three impartial judges.

Alumni who cannot make it to campus for Homecoming Weekend can participate by showing their Bona pride from wherever they are in the world. Tweet your Bona pride photos @bonasalumni or post to the St. Bonaventure Alumni Facebook page. The Alumni Office will reward creativity with prizes.

Lucia Scotty, who has worked in the alumni office since 1997, spearheads the event and stresses the importance of the message school spirit sends.

“The message we hope to convey is that Bonaventure is a special place that’s important to all of us,” she said. “We’re here for each other, we’re proud of the university, and we want everyone to know it.”

Scotty said the pride members of the Bonaventure community share is one of the unique features of the university.

“It helps to bring everyone together as the Bona family, which in turn radiates a positive feeling throughout the campus,” Scotty said.
